Just In: ECG Boss Sacked

The appointment of Ing. Samuel Boakye-Appiah as the care-taker, (interim) Chief Executive Officer of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has been terminated by the government of Ghana.

With immediate effect he is to hand over his duties to the Deputy Managing Director of ECG, Kwame Agyeman-Badu.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his reign in office appointed Ing. Samuel Boakye-Appiah as the acting CEO of ECG in the month of February, 2017.

In his letter of appointment signed by the then Energy minister, Boakye Agyarko, the minister instructed “You would act in this capacity until a substantive CEO is appointed.”
“As a care-taker CEO, you will not take decisions that have policy implications until a substantive governing board is in place,” he continued.

Engineer Boakye-Appiah joined the Electricity Company of Ghana, (ECG) on 4th January, 1990 and has served in various capacities till date.
