JUST IN: Libya Reports First Coronavirus Case

Libya has reported its first case of the deadly coronavirus, a specific wellspring of worry in the North African nation where common war has gravely debased the open social insurance system.

Libya has been buried in disarray since 2011 oust of long-lasting dictator Moamer Kadhafi and is partitioned between the Tripoli-based Government of National Unity (GNA) and powers faithful to eastern-based military strongman Khalifa Haftar.

The health minister of the UN-recognised GNA late Tuesday reported “the first contamination with the coronavirus in Libya,” without giving details of the case.

“The necessary measures have been taken to treat” the patient, the minister, Ehmed Ben Omar, said in a brief online statement.
