Alan Kyerematen resigns as Trade Minister

Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, Minister of Trade and Industry, has resigned from his job. This development was confirmed by sources close to the Minister.

According to sources, the minister submitted his resignation letter to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Thursday, January 5, 2023.

Although the reason for the Minister’s resignation from the Akufo-Addo administration after holding the portfolio since 2017 is unknown, it is assumed that he made the decision to allow himself to properly concentrate on his presidential aspirations.

The men are progressively being separated from the boys as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prepares to elect its flagbearer ahead of the 2024 national elections. So far, five NPP stalwarts have declared their interest to lead the party.

Vice President Dr. Bawumia and Minister for Trade and Industry Alan Kyerematen are among those expected to run for the NPP flagbearer position when President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-tenure Addo’s expires.

Dr. Afriyie Akoto, Minister of Agriculture, former Energy Minister Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, and former Railway Development Minister Joe Ghartey are among the others.

The party’s presidential candidate, John Alan Kyeremanten, previously stated that it is his time to lead the party to success in the 2024 presidential and legislative elections.
