Alicia Augello Cook, popularly known as Alicia Keys was born on January 25, 1981 in in New York City, USA. She was born to Teresa Cook and Craig Cook. Her mother, Teresa Cook was a part-time actress, while her father, Craig Cook was a flight attendant.


Alicia’s father abandoned her when she was two years old, and she was raised by her mother in Hell’s Kitchen during her formative years. She began studying classical piano at the age of seven. At the age of 12, she enrolled in the ‘Professional Performing Arts School.’
