He started at Netherseal Junior School in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, before moving on to The Pingle School, a public comprehensive. He continued his education at the University of Nottingham, where he earned a degree in biological sciences after specializing in genetics and psychology.
After graduating, Bridgen enrolled in the Royal Marines’ officer training program, but he never completed it. He intervened in the “dirty tricks row” in May 2009 involving a councilor who had pledged Conservative backing to assure the construction of a village hall in the event that an independent election candidate quit.
