After graduating, Bridgen enrolled in the Royal Marines’ officer training program, but he never completed it. He intervened in the “dirty tricks row” in May 2009 involving a councilor who had pledged Conservative backing to assure the construction of a village hall in the event that an independent election candidate quit.
