Janet is the tenth and youngest child of the Jackson family. She began her career with the variety television series The Jacksons in 1976 and went on to appear in other television shows throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, including Good Times, Diff’rent Strokes, band Fame.
Janet signed a contract with A&M Records when she was sixteen years old. Her debut album, Janet Jackson was released in 1982 and it peaked at No. 63 on the Billboard 2000, and No. 69 in the publication’s R&B album chart, receiving little promotion.
