Athena Strand, a seven-year-old girl, was murdered. Her body was discovered on Friday, December 2, 2022, according to Sheriff Lane Akin. Her body was discovered six miles from her home.
According to digital evidence and a confession, Athena was abducted by the contract driver of a FedEx truck. It was also discovered that she died within an hour of being kidnapped.
Tanner Lynn Horner, 31 years old, has been identified as the driver. He is now being held at the Wise County Jail.
Tanner is said to have delivered a package to Athena’s house and abducted her in the driveway. Tanner, according to Sherriff Lane, took the Police to two fictitious locations before giving them the right direction.
Tanner had no contact with Athena or her family and thus cannot speculate on the motive for the crime.
“They’re distraught,” Sheriff Akin says of Athena’s family. They’re upset because of what happened, which was the removal of a priceless child from their lives.
