Benjamin Mendy, a former Manchester City defender, has issued a statement through his lawyer following his acquittal on rape and attempted rape charges at Chester Crown Court on Friday.
Mendy is now free after the Chester Crown Court on Friday exonerated him of all rape-related charges. A statement by the footballer’s lawyer Jenny Wiltshire said, “Benjamin Mendy would like to thank the members of the jury for focusing on the evidence in this trial rather than on the rumour and innuendo that have followed this case since the outset.
“He thanks everyone who has supported him throughout this ordeal and now asks for privacy, so he can begin to rebuild his life”.
