Boma Prize for Africa Returns for Second Edition in Accra

Africa’s leading platform for youth innovation and entrepreneurship, the Boma Prize for Africa, is set to return for its second annual Entrepreneurship Pitch Contest and Awards Gala scheduled to hold on December 6 and 7, 2025, at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana.

Following its successful debut in 2024, which attracted participants from over 17 African countries, the Boma Prize has grown into a continental movement championing innovation and enterprise among young Africans. The initiative continues to unite visionary entrepreneurs, changemakers and development leaders under one goal of empowering Africa’s youth to drive transformation through innovation and enterprise.

This year’s edition will feature a two-day line-up of leadership dialogues, innovation showcases, exhibitions and a high-impact pitch contest offering grants and mentorship opportunities worth up to 20,000 dollars. The event will climax with the Boma Prize Awards Gala, where outstanding individuals and organisations contributing to Africa’s sustainable development will be honoured in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Founder and Executive Director of the Boma Prize for Africa, Blessing Douglas, said the initiative is focused on helping young Africans realise that they are the architects of their own future.

“The goal of the Boma Prize is simple, to help young Africans realize that they are the architects of their own future,” Douglas said. “When we invest in youth innovation, we invest in Africa’s transformation. The Boma Prize is not just an event, it is a movement that inspires possibility, nurtures innovation and drives lasting progress.

”Douglas, who is an astute entrepreneur, innovator and youth development advocate, has empowered over 1,000 young Africans through mentorship, enterprise development and leadership programmes. She noted that this year’s edition will not only spotlight innovation but also strengthen collaboration among partners committed to Africa’s development.

The Boma Prize for Africa is anchored by the Boma Prize for Africa Foundation, a United States-based non-profit organisation, which continues to expand its partnerships with governments, embassies, corporations, universities and international agencies committed to promoting inclusive growth across the continent.

According to Douglas, participating partners will gain high-level visibility and direct engagement with Africa’s top innovators while also having opportunities to co-create programmes that strengthen entrepreneurial ecosystems across Africa.

“This year, we are deepening collaboration with organisations that share our vision,” she said. “We are inviting partners who believe in Africa’s potential to stand with us in empowering a generation ready to change the world.”
