On Sunday morning, Cheslie Kryst, a well-known Extra journalist and former Miss USA, committed suicide. She was 30 years old at the time. According to the New York Police Department, Kryst committed suicide by jumping from a high-rise apartment building in New York City.
Who Is Cheslie Kryst?
Cheslie Kryst, Miss USA 2019, was a television personality, model, and beauty pageant winner from the United States. She was a top ten finisher in the Miss Universe 2019 competition for the United States. Kryst was an attorney who campaigned to improve the legal system in the United States.
Kryst earned a law degree and an MBA from Wake Forest University, as well as a bachelor’s degree and a track scholarship from the University of South Carolina.

After winning Miss USA in 2019, she began working in television, joining the entertainment news show Extra later that year.
Kryst, a native of North Carolina, worked as a civil litigation attorney at a law business, where she helped inmates who had been wrongfully imprisoned receive free sentencing reductions.
Due to her role as a New York reporter for Extra, Kryst got a nomination for Outstanding Entertainment News Program at the 47th Daytime Emmy Awards in 2020. She was nominated for the same prize at the 48th Daytime Emmy Awards the following year.
Cheslie Kryst Last Instagram Post Before Dying
Kryst died in New York City on January 30, 2022, after plunging to her death from the ninth level of The Orion, a 60-story high-rise apartment building in Midtown Manhattan.
Earlier that day, a final Instagram post with a heartbreaking caption was posted on Kryst’s Instagram account. “May this day bring you rest and peace,” the message read alongside a selfie.
