On Wednesday, January 4, Kenyan police launched an inquiry into the death of model and LGBTQ activist Edwin Chiloba. Chiloba’s body was discovered in a metallic box near the Kipenyo-Kaptinga road in Kapsaret, Uasin Gishu.
According to preliminary investigations, a car without a license plate number was seen depositing the metal box in the vicinity.
The incident was reported to police officers stationed at a nearby roadblock. Officers left their post and hurried to the situation.
When the package was opened, a rotting body of a guy clothed in female clothing was discovered within. It was then determined that the deceased was a fashion designer and homosexual rights, campaigner.
“We don’t know for now why he was killed that way. Experts are handling the matter,” she said.
His remains were then placed at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where a post-mortem examination would be performed to determine the cause of death as investigations begin.
Chiloba was a well-known LGBTQ activist in the country.
In response to the event, Kenyan Police Force spokesperson Resila Onyango stated that the motivation is unknown.
Edwin uploaded the awful photographs above on Instagram in early July 2022, after he was attacked and assaulted presumably because of who he was and his work in gender-fluid design and content.
