COP Dampare, or George Akuffo Dampare, is a well-known Ghanaian police officer who is presently serving as the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP). President Akufo-Addo nominated him as the acting Inspector General of Police on August 1, 2021. (IGP). Its believed that he is the youngest IGP so far in the history of Ghana.

George Akuffo Dampare, biography
George Dampare is a Ghanaian from the Eastern Region of the country. Dr. George Akuffo is thought to be an Akyem by the tribe. Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, a constable without a high school education, joined the Ghana Police Service 32 years ago as a constable.
Dr. Dampare was named the overall Best Recruit at the National Police Training School in 1991 after completing his recruit training and winning all prizes save the ‘Best Marksman’ title.
In 1996, he was named the overall Best Cadet for the Ghana Police Academy’s (previously, Police College) 32nd Cadet Officers’ Course, winning all prizes, including Excellence in Professional Police Subjects and Excellence in Academic Subjects. Surprisingly, after completing different courses to become an ACCA chartered accountant, he moved fast through the ranks.
He graduated from IPS, now known as UPSA, and received his Ph.D. in Financial Economics from King’s College, London, a few years later.
Dr. Dampare previously worked as a Research Fellow and lecturer at King’s College London, University of London, in addition to his police.
He has also taught at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Regent University College, and Data Link University College.
He is also a pioneer lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi’s Business School. He has held the positions of Director General, Finance and Administration, Director in Charge of the National Patrols Unit, Director General ICT, Director General Operations, Director-General Research and Planning, Commandant of the Police Command and Staff College, Accra Regional Police Commander, Director General Welfare of the Ghana Police Service, and Director-General in Charge of Administration in the Ghana Police Service.
