John Dumelo is a Ghanaian actor, politician, and farmer who was born on the 3rd of February, 1984. John Dumelo was born to Antionette Dumelo and John Dumelo. John Dumelo attended Christ the King School in Accra, Ghana for his basic education. He later went to Achimota Secondary School. John Dumelo holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
He later enrolled in GIMPA’s School of Public Service and Governance. John started acting in the early 1990s in a 1991 movie called baby Theft while he was attending Christ the King School and he was paid 20 thousand old Ghana Cedis( currently 2 Ghana Cedis) at age 7.
John came to the limelight when he was featured in a movie titled ‘ The King is Mine’ where he played the role of a king in 2008. He has acted in several films, including Blind Lust, A Night with Her, Chelsea, Suncity, After the Weeding, Crime Suspect, Blackmoney, Double Cross, Ghetto Queen, Gold not Silver, Final Innocent Sin, End of Brides War, Mirror of Life, One Night in Vegas.
John Dumelo launched his clothing line(J.Melo) In 2012. He is also known to be involved in both Crop and Animal farming. On the 19th of July 2019, John picked up a nomination form to contest in the NDC primaries as a parliamentary candidate.
On 24th August 2019, he won the NDC parliamentary primaries to represent the NDC in Ayawaso West Wougon Constituency in the 2020 General Election. He lost to the New Patriotic Party ( NPP) incumbent Lydia Alhassan for the Ayawaso West Wougon Constituency on December 7, 2020.
