The Ministry of Education (MoE) has rolled out a new procedure for checking the 2025 BECE school placement results. This update comes just ahead of the official release of placements for candidates who sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) between June 11 and June 18, 2025.

Free Placement Checking for All BECE Candidates
Unlike previous years, candidates will not be required to buy access codes or scratch cards to view their school placements. The MoE has confirmed that the 2025 placement checking process will be completely free on the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal.
This new initiative ensures that every student, regardless of location or financial background, can access their school placement details without any barriers.
Why the Procedure Was Changed
In the past, BECE candidates used index numbers and special access codes sent to registered phone numbers. However, this system posed challenges such as:
- Loss of SIM cards
- Inactive or blocked numbers
- Failure to receive codes
These issues prevented many students from accessing their placements. To fix this, the Ministry of Education has replaced the old method with a simpler and more reliable process.
New BECE 2025 Placement Checking Requirements
From 2025, candidates will only need two details to check their placements:
- Index Number
- Date of Birth (the one used during registration)
Step-by-Step: How to Check 2025 BECE School Placement
- Visit the official CSSPS portal: cssps.gov.gh/hub/login
- Enter your Index Number
- Enter your Date of Birth (DD/MM/YY format)
- Cross-check all details
- Click Sign In to view your placement
If the portal rejects your date of birth, first confirm with your school.
If your school’s records show an incorrect date, you must still use that same incorrect date when logging in since it has already been recorded in the system.

The Ministry explained that this new procedure is designed to be:
- Simple – requires only two details
- Accessible – no scratch card or access code needed
- Efficient – built to reduce errors and delays
This move reflects the government’s commitment to making the Free SHS placement system more inclusive, fair, and student-friendly.
