INEC Result Portal 2023: How To Check Nigeria’s Election Results
INEC Result Portal 2023: How To Check Nigeria’s Election Results: Every election season, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) introduces new ideas to improve the electoral process.
One such innovation is the launch of a platform, the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV), which allows citizens to view election results in real-time on election day.
Though the IReV portal has been used in some off-season elections, such as governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun, and FCT Area council elections, the innovative digital platform will be used for the first time in nationwide elections in 2023. (presidential, National Assembly, governorship and state assemblies).
The system’s development and implementation are intended to promote electoral transparency, which will aid in ensuring that the people’s will truly prevails.
The portal was made possible by President Muhammadu Buhari’s signing into law of an amended Electoral Act in 2022, which mandated the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS).
This technological advancement ensures transparent voter registration and the upload of polling unit results for citizens to view in real time on election day in the IReV portal.

The electoral body said the portal is to ensure transparency in the electoral process, which would help to ensure that the will of the people is accurately reflected.
“As I have said repeatedly, the commission’s allegiance is to Nigeria. Our loyalty is to Nigerians who want free, fair, credible, and verifiable elections supported by technology, which guarantees transparent accreditation and upload of polling unit results for citizens to view in real-time on election day,” said INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu.
“A transparent election process helps to ensure that the will of the people is accurately reflected. This is why the commission has resolved to use the IReV portal to upload the polling unit results in real-time for the #NigeriaDecides2023 election,” the electoral body said.
On how users can access results, INEC spokesperson said: “Click on the election of your interest and you select the state, the LGA, the ward, and the polling unit. It is the polling unit results that are uploaded. The idea is you can access and view results from every part of the country depending on the state of your interest. Why I say it is important to create the account now is because we don’t want you to experience difficulty creating an account on election day, although INEC has told us that the platform has the capacity to manage about 100 million hits on that day.”
