Jordan Ayew, a Ghanaian attacker, scored his first goal for Crystal Palace in the 2022/23 English Premier League season.
The Crystal Palace number 9-shirted guy opened the goal this afternoon with a wonderful header in the 19th minute.
Crystal Palace won 2-0 away at Bournemouth to close the year 2022 on a high note. Crystal Palace is ranked 11th out of the 20 teams in the English Premier League.
Crystal Palace rebounded from consecutive defeats with first-half goals from Jordan Ayew and Eberechi Eze to overcome Bournemouth in front of the club’s new owners Bill Foley and Michael B Jordan.
Ayew nodded in a corner from Michael Olise, who also set up Eze for the second goal, as Palace punished Bournemouth for sloppy defense.
The club was bought from Maxim Demin in a deal worth more than £100 million earlier in December by American businessman Foley and actor Jordan, who were introduced on the ground before kick-off, but the sprinkle of Hollywood stardust did little to inspire Gary O’Neil’s side.
“It’s the first time since I’ve taken charge that we’ve fallen well below the standards that we’ve set,” O’Neil said. “I’m furious about the goals. Defending set-plays has been a thing all season we’ve struggled with but they were avoidable today.
“I’m not looking for excuses. I take full responsibility. It cannot look like that in the Premier League because it’s ruthless.”
