Joyce Anne Dewitt is an American actress and comedian known for her role as Janet Wood on the ABC sitcom Three’s Company from 1977 to 1984.
DeWitt was born on April 23, 1949, in Wheeling, West Virginia, United States. Her parents are Norma DeWitt and Paul DeWitt and she is 1.61m tall.
Joyce Dewitt Personal Life
Joyce Dewitt graduated from Speedway Senior High School and worked with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Ticket office. She had a bachelor’s degree from Ball State University with a major in theater.
DeWitt later moved to California to acquire a master’s degree from the University of California and graduated in 1974
As in 1973 to 1980, Joyce was in a romantic relationship with Ray Buktenica, an actor and director.
On July 4, 2009, DeWitt was arrested in El Segundo, California for drunken driving. She was pulled over by a police officer after she drove past a barricade near a park.
DeWitt exhibited signs that she had been drinking and also failed the sobriety test given to her by the officer.
She pleaded no contest on count misdemeanor and was placed on three years probation on May 27, 2010. Joyce was also ordered to undergo a nine-month alcohol program and was ordered to pay a fine of $510 and a penalty assessment.

At the age of 13, Joyce began appearing on stage. She also worked as a secretary while in the university until her debut Barette.
DeWitt is best known for her role as Janet Wood during the 1977-1984 run of the Sitcom Three’s Company, a job she obtained after casting in the shows, second pilot.
She quit acting in 1984 after she appeared in an episode of “Finder Of Lost Lover”. DeWitt again resumed acting in June 1991 with a part in a production of ” Noise Off” at Michigan’s Cherry County Playhouse.
