Kathy Hochul is an American lawyer and politician who has served as New York’s 57th governor since August 24, 2021. She is the first female governor of New York and a member of the Democratic Party.

Who is Kathy Hochul? Kathy Hochul is an American Lawyer and a politician born Kathleen Courtney in Buffalo, New York. She was born on the 27th of August 1958.
Moreover, she was born to John P. Courtney and Patricia Ann Courtney. However, her father was a clerical worker and her mother been a homemaker.
Hochul became politically engaged during her college years at Syracuse Campus, leading a boycott of the student bookstore over excessive prices and an unsuccessful attempt to rename the university stadium after alumni running back and NFL draft pick Ernie Davis, who died of cancer.
In 1980, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School. In 1984, she also received her Juris Doctor from the Catholic University of Columbus School of Law.
Kathy Hochul Career
Hochul began working for a Washington, D.C. legal firm after graduating from law school. She later worked as a legal adviser and legislative assistant to U.S. Senator John McCain. However, the Hamburg Town Board appointed her to the vacant position on the board caused by Patrick H. Hoak’s resignation to become town supervisor on January 3, 1994.
On the Democratic and Conservative lines, she was elected to a full term in November 1994.Also, Hochul was named as Erie County Clerk David Swarts’ deputy in May 2003.

Also, she was elected to a full term as Erie County clerk in 2007 and reelected in 2010. After Cuomo resigned after sexual harassment charges, Hochul was elected governor of New York on August 24, 2021.
