The current Minister of Energy, Matthew Opoku Prempeh has debunked claims the Movement For Change spearheaded by Alan Kyeremanteng could pose a threat to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Expressing interest in the recent claim, the Member of Parliament for the Manhyia South constituency stated that the Movement For Change founded by Alan cannot pose any threat to the NPP.
He reiterated that we govern a country with beauty adding that the butterfly is a very beautiful animal but it can’t govern because it passes after just two days.
His words are literally, a jab to Alan Kyeremanteng’s Movement For Change party whose party logo is represented by a butterfly.
While addressing the youth of the Ashanti Region in a recenlty held conference, the Energy Minister stated that one person the NPP has reasons to fear is Hon. Kennedy Agyapong and not Alan Kyeremanteng.
According to Opoku Prempeh, if there is anyone the NPP should be afraid of, it should be Kennedy who came second in the party’s recent presidential primaries.
He reiterated that if there should by anyone to fear, it should be Assin-Central MP because he was able to pull 35.5% at the recent presidential election.
However, even with Kennedy, he conceded defeat in good faith and stated that he will not leave the NPP a week after the primaries adding that the election was free and fair.
Alan Kyeremanteng, an former astute member of the NPP who was tipped to become the next flagbearer of the party, resigned from ruling party a few weeks to the presidential primaries.
The former NPP associate accused the leadership of the party and some members of skewing the flagbearer contest in favor of the Vice President, citing the threats and intimidation against his supporters and his personality.
Divergent to these claims, Mr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has indicated that the NPP is a party that rewards loyalty and eschews discrimination.
