Kimathi Rawlings is one of the four children of the late former president of Ghana, Flt. Lt. (Rtd) Jerry John Rawlings, and former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

Kimathi Rawlings was born in the 1980s to the former president of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings, and his wife Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings. Kimathi has three elder sisters namely, Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, Yaa Asantewaa Rawlings, and Amina Rawlings. Kimathi Rawlings was named after Kenyan freedom fighter Dedan Kimathi.
Kimathi attended North Ridge Lyceum and Morning Star School in Accra for his basic education, after which he continued his secondary education at Millfield School in England.
He furthered his education at Aston University in Birmingham, England, where he studied Bachelor of Science (BSc), International Business. The last born of Jerry Rawlings also has two certificates from MDT International: An introduction to Oil and Gas Production and Negotiation Skills for the Oil & Gas Industry.
Kimathi is a Commercial and Portfolio advisor at Eni, a multinational Oil, and Gas company in England.
