Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been recognized as the best university in the world for its outstanding contribution to achieving UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (UN SDG 4), which is focused on providing a top-notch education.
The ranking appeared in the 2023 edition of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, which was released on June 1, 2023. The only international performance tables that rank universities are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings are presented here.
The ranking provides comprehensive and unbiased comparisons in four key areas: outreach, research, stewardship, and teaching. Using painstakingly calibrated measurements, it accomplishes this. 1,591 universities from 112 different countries were included in the fifth edition of the 2023 Impact Rankings.
In terms of providing top-notch education, the KNUST performed better than all other colleges in the world, taking first place with an exceptional score of 93.1. Under the SDG 4 – Quality Education area, universities’ contributions to early childhood and lifelong learning, research, and their dedication to inclusive education are evaluated.
In terms of (SDG4), the achievement in 2023 represents a significant improvement over the rankings from 2022, which placed the University at the top of Africa and 14th globally.
The University Relations Officer, Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, responded to the most recent ranking and emphasized that this outstanding success is a result of years of significant and strategic investment on the part of the university’s administration.
