The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed the Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST Senior High School, Mr. Charles Akwasi Aidoo, after a viral video showed him in a compromising situation with a female student.
In a press release dated Monday, September 29, the GES said it had taken immediate action following the circulation of the KNUST SHS trending video on social media. The service emphasized that it views the matter with utmost seriousness, given its responsibility to safeguard students in all schools.
According to the statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, Mr. Aidoo has been removed from office and barred from entering the school while thorough investigations are carried out.
“The appropriate disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the code of conduct of the Ghana Education Service,” the statement read.
The GES also assured parents, guardians, and the general public that due process will be followed to ensure fairness while prioritizing the safety of students.
Reiterating its mandate, the GES stressed its commitment to protecting the dignity and well-being of learners across Ghana.
“The GES remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and child protection in all our schools. We strongly condemn any acts that compromise the safety, dignity, and well-being of students,” the statement concluded.
The incident has sparked heated discussions online, with many calling for stricter monitoring systems to ensure the safety of students in schools.
