FC Barcelona have confirmed that Marcus Rashford and Joan García are officially registered with LaLiga ahead of tonight’s season opener against RCD Mallorca.

The registrations came at the last minute after weeks of uncertainty caused by the club’s financial fair play struggles. Barcelona had to free up salary space and restructure contracts before LaLiga gave the green light.

Rashford Cleared to Play

Rashford, who joined from Manchester United this summer, will wear the #14 jersey for Barcelona. His registration was made possible after the club unlocked funds through player sales and financial adjustments. The England international is now eligible to make his much-anticipated debut in LaLiga.

Joan García Steps In for Ter Stegen

Goalkeeper Joan García, signed from Espanyol for €25 million, was also cleared to play. His registration was facilitated by the long-term injury to Marc-André ter Stegen, whose medical leave freed up part of Barcelona’s wage bill. García will wear the #13 shirt, while Iñaki Peña takes over the #1 jersey.

Flick Not Happy with the Delay

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick admitted he was “not happy” with the delay in registrations but expressed relief that both players are now available. “The process was stressful, but the important thing is that we have them ready for Mallorca,” he said.

What’s Next for Barça?

While Rashford and García are now available, several other signings, including Gerard Martín and Wojciech Szczęsny, remain unregistered. Barcelona are still working with LaLiga to meet the financial requirements needed to add them to the squad.
