Mfantsipim School, affectionately known as Botwe, has emerged victorious in the 2025 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), cementing their dominance in one of Ghana’s most prestigious academic competitions.

The grand finale, held at the SGS Auditorium of the University of Cape Coast, witnessed a thrilling intellectual battle as Mfantsipim showcased brilliance, resilience, and teamwork to retain their national title — marking a rare back-to-back victory after their 2024 triumph.

Road to Victory

Mfantsipim entered the 2025 final as the defending champions, having confidently defeated Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) and Mankranso SHS in the semifinals. Their consistent excellence and composure throughout the competition made them the team to beat.

Round-by-Round Breakdown

Round One: Mfantsipim started strong with 20 points, taking an early lead over St Augustine’s College (Augusco) and Opoku Ware School (OWASS), who trailed closely behind.

Round Two: St Augustine’s found momentum, finishing this round in the lead with 27 points. Mfantsipim followed with 24 points, while Opoku Ware managed 17 points.

Round Three: The defending champions bounced back, reclaiming their lead with 30 points, edging out Augustine’s, who scored 29 points. Opoku Ware maintained 17 points as the tension in the auditorium intensified.

Round Four: Mfantsipim extended their lead to 46 points, while St Augustine’s stayed in contention with 42 points. Opoku Ware, despite their spirited efforts, struggled to close the gap at 29 points.

When the dust settled, Mfantsipim SHS stood tall once again, successfully defending their crown with an outstanding performance. Opoku Ware School secured second place, representing the Ashanti Region with pride, while St Augustine’s College took third place after a commendable effort.
