Nirmala Mishra, an Indian singer best known for her Odia film songs and Bengali modern and film songs, has died.
On October 21, 1938, she was born in Majilpur, Calcutta, Bengal Presidency, British India.

Most of her performances from the 1960s and 1970s were adored by music fans. She was a well-known and admired playback singer in both Odia and Bengali films. The late singer received the Sangeet Sudhakar Balakrushna Das Award in recognition of her lifetime contribution to Odia music.

Her song ‘Nida bhara raati madhu jhara janha’ from the 1975 Odia film ‘Anutapa,’ composed by J. Adeni, is still one of the most popular Odia songs.

Nirmala Mishra, 81, died at her Chetla home in the early hours of Sunday, July 30, 2022, from a massive heart attack, according to a senior doctor.

She had been suffering from age-related ailments for quite some time prior to the sudden heart attack.
