A beautiful photo of Sergeant Ernest Addo and his wife on their wedding day has surfaced online, capturing the couple’s joy during what should have been the beginning of a long and happy life together. The newlywed sergeant was one of the three crew members aboard the GAF Z-9 military helicopter that crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

According to reports, the aircraft was en route to Obuasi and had gone off radar shortly after takeoff. The helicopter was carrying high-profile individuals including the Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.

Sergeant Ernest Addo served as part of the helicopter crew, alongside Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala and Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu. All three lost their lives in the incident.
