The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Honourable Samuel Nartey George has alleged that, the government has not created any 2.3 million jobs.
Honourable Sam George made an appearance on the BREAKFAST REVIEW show on GHone Tv, Monday, August 26, 2024 where he joined the show host, Ms Serwaa Amihere to discuss the topic “NDC, NPP MANIFESTO LAUNCH AND MATTERS ARISING”. Hon George argued in his defence that, the New Patriotic Party have failed woefully as the political party in government; taking into consideration, all the facets of the country`s economy.
He then added that, the unemployment rate under this administration has inflated since they took over from the National Democratic Congress Party`s government on 7th January, 2024. Therefore, there is no accurate statistics supporting their facts about the government of the day creating in excess of 2.3 million jobs for the youths.
“Your 2.3 million or 2 million jobs is a lie, it is a blatant disgraceful lie. When Bawumia and Egyapa Mercer tell you that they have created 2.3 million jobs, tell them me, Sam George, I said they are liars and dishonest people if they go on that tangent. Serwaa, if they have created 2.3 million jobs, we must have a job surplus in Ghana.
“The Ghana Statistical Service that you quoted, says that we have an unemployment rate of 14.7 and put the number at 1.3 million Ghanaians, 1.3 million,so if you have created 2.3 million, we must have gone to Togo, Burkina and asked them to join. SSNIT, has a total active participation of 1.8 million, 1.8 million, so where are the jobs. Because your 2.3 million in your document, you reference SSNIT as the source of your information. Meanwhile SSNIT has only 1.8 million active subscribers; the Ghana Statistical Service says we have 1.3 million unemployed young people,” he iterated.
Honourable Sam George quizzed the intentions with which the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawmia and the members of the government are informing the entire citizenry about a non-factual state of the number of employment created for young people in the country.
“But you have created 2.3 million jobs, if you are not lying then you are delusion. It is one of the two, it is either their looking into the camera and looking into the faces of Ghanaians and lying to us. The young people of this country will not take those lies again bobo. Look, me I am a young man oo, today, thankfully I have a job, many young people like me and you don`t have a job. You promised them jobs, you haven`t given them the jobs then now you claim you`ve created the jobs. How dishonest can you be? And when you talk about it they wan to tell you that you don`t know what you`re talking about,” Hon Sam George argued.
