Uma Pemmaraju was born on March 31, 1958, in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, India. She grew up in San Antonio, Texas, , and had her education at Trinity University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science. She also studied international relations for a year at American University.
Pemmaraju began her career as a producer and reporter for KENS-TV and the San Antonio Express-News newspaper. She worked as the editor of the school newspaper before joining KTVT-11 as a news anchor and correspondent. Later, she worked for WLVI, WMAR-TV in Baltimore, and WBZ-TV in Boston. She worked for WBZ’s Evening Magazine as a producer and correspondent.
Later, she became well-known on Fox News as Uma Pemmaraju’s co-host and co-anchor of America’s News Headquarters. She was a reporter for Bloomberg News as well.
