Unity Cup: Why we lost to Super Eagles – Black Stars coach, Otto Addo

Ghana Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has provided insight into his team’s 2-1 defeat to the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the semi-finals of the Unity Cup on Wednesday night.

The highly anticipated clash took place at the Gtech Community Stadium in London, where Nigeria dominated the first half, scoring twice through Cyriel Dessers and Semi Ajayi.

Although Ghana managed to pull one back in the second half with a goal from substitute Thomas Asante, it wasn’t enough to prevent a loss to their West African rivals.

Speaking after the game, Otto Addo attributed the defeat to a lack of cohesion among his players.

“It’s not always easy, especially when we have players who haven’t played together often,” he stated. “Nigeria has a more mature team that adapted quicker. We struggled to press, engage in duels, and maintain our defensive structure.”

The Black Stars entered the tournament without several of their key players, which may have affected the team’s performance and rhythm.
