The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the completion of the marking process for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) scripts for school candidates. The results are expected to be released between December 9 and December 15, 2024, pending final preparations.

According to a press release issued by the Ghana Education Service (GES) on December 1, 2024, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs revealed this timeline during an interview with Accra-based Citi FM. “We were looking at the second week of December, so at least between the 9th and the 15th of December, we are sure that we will be able to release the results,” the statement emphasized.

The 2024 WASSCE commenced on Monday, August 5, 2024, and ended on Friday, September 20, 2024, with the administration of the Visual Art Project Work. A total of 460,611 candidates from 1,003 participating senior high schools across Ghana sat for the examination. Out of this number, 212,954 were male, and 247,657 were female candidates. The examination was conducted across 1,000 centers nationwide under strict supervision.

However, the release also noted that the results of 19,808 candidates have been withheld or canceled due to various forms of malpractice detected during the examination process. WAEC emphasized its commitment to upholding the integrity of the examinations and urged affected candidates to use the Council’s support channels for clarification or to lodge appeals.

The press release advised all candidates to remain vigilant and access their results only through official WAEC portals or accredited channels. For inquiries, WAEC has provided a WhatsApp assistant service (+233 20 555 0989) to handle candidates’ concerns regarding withheld or canceled results.

As students, parents, and schools eagerly await the results, WAEC’s assurance of transparency and adherence to timelines remains critical. The release of the provisional results will mark a significant milestone for the thousands of candidates who have been anxiously anticipating the outcome of their academic efforts.

Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of the Public Relations Unit of GES, signed off on the press release, reiterating the importance of adhering to official communication channels for updates regarding the examination results.
