Who Is Gene Ransom?
Ransom is a basketball star at the University of California, Berkeley. He was a member of the school’s athletic Hall of Fame and played in the 1970’s. Ransom is best known for playing 63.5 minutes and scoring 36 points at a 5-overtime victory against Oregon in 1977.
He first played at Berkeley High, where he was in the same team with Ruppert Jones who was a future major team player. They led the Yellow Jacket into the old tournament of Champions.

What Caused His Death?
Ransom died on 4th February 2022, Friday at the age of 66. He was found dead in his vehicle in the night around 5:15pm off the Interstate 880 in California. It was later reported that his death was caused by a freeway shooting.
It was believed by California Highway Patrol(CHP) that, the car crashed into the guardrail and stopped after the gunshot. However, Ransom couldn’t survive the bullet but died at the spot.
Who Killed Gene Ransom?
Who killed Gene Ransom? Ransom was killed through freeway shooting on February 4, 2022. However, a suspect called Juan Angel Garcia (25 years old) has been arrested by the California Highway Patrol. He is from San Francisco and was charged with murder after his arrest on 5th February 2022.
It is alleged Juan Garcia fired to the left side of Ransom whiles driving towards him. However, Garcia is scheduled for court on 9th February as he is kept in Alameda Country Jail.
