She was invited to command an all-female combat unit of the Islamic State, known as the Khatib Nusaybah, in the year 2016. So, in the unit, about 100 women were trained to use suicide belts, toss grenades, drive explosives-laden cars, and fight with assault weapons during the siege of Raqqa in 2017.

She was previously a resident of Overbrook, Kansas, in the United States. According to a witness, one of Allison’s sons was spotted holding a machine gun. However her son, according to the BBC, was about 5 or 6 years old at the time. Fluke-Ekren has also been accused of recruiting operatives and planning an attack on a college campus in the United States, in addition to her suspected role in Syria.
