Dean Stockwell’s Biography
Dean Stockwell was an American actor whose career has spanned over 70 years. He began his career as a child, performing as a contract player for Metro-Godwyn- Mayer. Dean Robert Stockwell was born in the North Hollywood section of Los Angeles on March 5, 1936. He grew up between North Hollywood and New York City.
He was born to Harry Stockwell and Elizabeth “Betty” Stockwell. He was born into a family of entertainers. Dean made his stage debut in a Theatre Guild production of Paul Osborn’s “The Innocent Voyage” at the age of seven in which his brother was also cast. He was spotted, and, in the strength of his performance, was signed by MGM in 1945.
Dean got a bigger part in the Anchors Aweigh film in 1945 alongside Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly by producer Joe Pasternak, in which Dean played the nephew of Kathryn Grayson. Dean had a lot of key roles in many films as well as supporting roles.
Some of the films Dean had roles in as he was a child was Home Sweet Homicide(1946), The Mighty McGurk(1947), The Champ(1931, Arnelo Affair(1947), The Romance of Rosy Ridge(1947), Gentleman’s Agreement(1947), Deep Waters(1948), Down to the Sea in Ships(1949), Stars in My Crown(1950), Cattle Drive(1951).
Stockwell graduated from Alexander Hamilton High school in Los Angeles and attended the University of California, Berkeley for a year before dropping out. Dean became active in “Topanga Cayon hippie” after dropping out of the show business in the mid-1960s. He returned to acting with a supporting role in “Psych-Out” (1968). Dean Stockwell died on November 7, 2021.

Joy Marchenko is well known as the second ex-wife of Dean Stockwell. She was a textile expert who worked in Morocco. Dean Stockell and Joy Marchenko tied the knot in 1981. The duo gave birth to two children named, Sophia Stockwell and Austin Stockwell.
