Argentina, one of the favorites for the 2022 World Cup, will be without one of their former stars, Sergio Aguero.

Following his breakthrough in Europe as an elite goal scorer at Atletico Madrid, the Manchester City legend had become a regular in Argentina’s team. Sergio Aguero left Manchester City as a club legend after a trophy-laden career.
They will, however, be without the former national team striker for the first time since 2006, when they face France in the World Cup final.
Why isn’t Sergio Aguero playing for Argentina?
Aguero made his World Cup debut against South Korea on matchday two after being called into the squad.
Since then, the forward has been an important member of his national team, forming a strong bond with fellow forward Lionel Messi. Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi developed a strong friendship while playing for their respective countries.

However, in what may be Messi‘s final World Cup, he will be missing one of his closest friends. Aguero moved to Barcelona in 2021, hoping to play alongside Messi, only for the Argentine to leave Camp Nou himself.
Despite Messi’s departure, Aguero was eager to prove himself on his return to La Liga and scored in his first El Clasico appearance.
