Zelenksy, born on January 25th, 1978, in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine — a city in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in the Central Eastern part of Ukraine— grew up developing his career as an actor before becoming a politician.
The Ukraine actor and comedian turned politician was raised by his dad Oleksandr Zelenksyy (Computer Scientist), and his mother Rimma Zelenskoya (Engineer) under a Ukrainian Jewish Family. Before his political ambitions, Zelenksy attained a degree in law from Kyiv National Economic University before creating his media production company ‘Kvartal 95’ where he began his full-time role as an actor and comedian.
From 2015-2019, Zelenksy become famous for his role in a Ukraine TV series from his production ‘Servant of The People;’ a fictional movie where he starred as Vasily Petrovich Groloborodko, a teacher who became a fictional Ukraine President.
In 2019, Zelenksy announced his interest to run for the presidential race in Ukraine, campaigning and positioning himself as an anti-corruption, anti-establishment figure and actively promising to bring an end to Russia’s Conflict with Ukraine. Although he held several engagements with Russian President, Vladimir Putin, to end the seemingly incessant conflict between the two countries, Zelenksy’s efforts became abortive culminating in Russia launching a full-force invasion of Ukraine’s capital Kyiv on February 2022.
Zelenksy declared martial law at the time across Ukraine and has since called on international bodies to come to his aid despite many attempts to evacuate him from his country for safety during the unexpected full-force invasion from Russia, which gained him global praise. Zelenksy is in full spirit of bringing this war to a possible end as he seeks support from NATO in this difficult time for his people.
