Reports indicate that before her untimely death, Korshunova had visited Jeffrey Epstein’s private island, known as Little St. James, in 2006. She traveled there on Epstein’s private plane, referred to as the ‘Lolita Express’. The circumstances surrounding her visit remain somewhat unclear, but Epstein was notorious for transporting young women to his island, where they faced exploitation.

In May 2011, an email exchange surfaced between Virginia Roberts-Giuffre and her attorney from Florida, Brad Edwards. Edwards inquired if Roberts-Giuffre was familiar with Korshunova, mentioning that the model had taken a trip to a private island with a wealthy associate. Roberts-Giuffre expressed her condolences upon learning about Korshunova’s death and confirmed that she had never personally met her.

The discussion about Korshunova’s association with Epstein resurfaced with the release of documents from a 2015 defamation lawsuit that Roberts-Giuffre filed against Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s close associate. These documents became public after a Manhattan judge determined there was no reason to keep them confidential.

Epstein faced legal troubles himself, passing away in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial. Maxwell, on the other hand, is serving a lengthy prison sentence for her involvement in sex trafficking.

Ruslana Korshunova’s life took a challenging turn when she became associated with an intense ‘self-help group’ in Russia. This group, which critics labeled as a cult, subjected its members to demeaning and accusatory practices. The model’s descent into this group came after facing setbacks in her modeling career and personal relationships.

Pomerantsev’s book, “Nothing Is True and Everything Is Possible: The Surreal Heart of the New Russia,” shed light on Korshunova’s involvement with the group called Rose of the World. This group allegedly had a harsh approach towards its members, demanding exorbitant fees for its courses. Tragically, not long after joining this group, Korshunova met her unfortunate end.
