Despite her talent and ambition, Alyssa faced challenges during her school days, enduring bullying due to her light-skinned appearance, a consequence of her parents’ diverse ethnic backgrounds. This experience motivated her to adopt the stage name “Miss Mulatto” as a nod to her mixed heritage.

A turning point in her life came at the age of ten when she decided to become a rapper and began crafting her own rap lyrics.

In 2016, Alyssa embarked on a journey that would change her life forever. She became a contestant on the Lifetime reality series “The Rap Game,” a program produced by Jermaine Dupri and Queen Latifah. This boot camp-style competition featured young aspiring rappers battling each other over eight intense weeks.

Using the stage name “Miss Mulatto” at the time, Alyssa emerged as the overall winner of the competition. While she was offered a recording contract by Dupri with So So Def Records, she made the bold choice to turn it down, citing that the deal did not meet her financial expectations. Instead, she opted to venture forth as an independent artist.

In February 2016, Alyssa released her first single, “No More Talking.” She also collaborated with Lil Niqo, a fellow competitor from “The Rap Game,” on the 2016 single “Tough on the Internet.” In recognition of her talent, she was honored with the Youth Hip Hop/R&B Award at the 2016 Georgia Music Awards.
