Maame Efua Houadjeto Appointed CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority

Maame Efua Houadjeto has been named the new Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).

A former Deputy Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Maame Efua also served as the Deputy Director of the party’s International Relations Directorate. She takes over from Akwasi Agyeman, who resigned from the position about a week ago.

The Ghana Tourism Authority, one of 13 agencies under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, is responsible for positioning Ghana as a leading sustainable tourism destination. The Authority focuses on leveraging technology and ICT, ensuring effective regulation and standardization, and promoting sustainable tourism development.

Additionally, the GTA is committed to strengthening collaborations through multi-agency, public-private, and stakeholder partnerships. It also prioritizes aggressive marketing, investment promotion, improved industry service, safety, health standards, and enhanced accountability.

As a key player in tourism sustainability, the Authority aims to drive positive societal change through its various initiatives and partnerships, contributing significantly to Ghana’s tourism sector.
