Education

Sam George pursued a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering (Soil & Water Engineering) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Later, he obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of London (External).

Demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning, he earned an Executive Master’s in Conflict, Peace, and Security from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping and Training Center (KAIPTC). In December 2022, he graduated with a Master of Science in International Strategy and Diplomacy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), becoming the first Ghanaian to complete this program.

Career

Between 2010 and 2014, Sam George served as the Assistant Director at the Office of the Head of Civil Service. He then transitioned to the role of Communications Specialist at the Office of the President from 2014 to 2016. In January 2025, he was appointed as the Minister for Communication in the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation.

Political Journey

Sam George entered politics as a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). His political career took a significant turn in November 2015 when he defeated Enoch Teye Mensah, a long-standing incumbent, in the NDC primaries for the Ningo-Prampram constituency.

He secured 4,910 votes (53.4% of the total), while Mensah garnered 2,831 votes (38.5%). This victory paved the way for his election to the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana in 2016. He was re-elected in 2020 and again in 2024, marking his third consecutive term as the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram.

In Parliament, he is a member of both the Public Accounts Committee and the Communications Committee.

Sam George is known for sponsoring a private member’s bill aimed at criminalizing LGBTQI+ activities in Ghana.
