Mercy Chinwo was born on September 5, 1991, in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. She grew up singing in the children’s choir at her local church where she honed her vocal abilities from a young age. Chinwo attended the University of Port Harcourt where she studied linguistics and earned her first degree.
Even while studying at university, Chinwo remained dedicated to music and her faith. She performed with the university’s music band and was a lead vocalist and soloist. She went on to earn a master’s degree in linguistics as well in 2015 before deciding to pursue music full-time.
