Alfred Obeng-Boateng, a prominent figure in politics and law, hails from Sefwi-Awaso in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, born in 1973.
After completing his basic education, he embarked on an academic journey that took him to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). There, he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering, successfully graduating in 2001. Impressively, during his time at KNUST, he authored two textbooks that were later published and utilized in secondary schools across Ghana.
Harnessing his entrepreneurial spirit, he established Approaches Ghana Limited, a publishing company responsible for the well-known Approaches Series educational books. These publications have left an indelible mark on the educational landscape of Ghana and other English-speaking West African countries.
His quest for knowledge led him to the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom, where he earned his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. Due to his exceptional performance, he was awarded a partial scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree in International and Commercial Law, specializing in oil and gas.
Returning to Ghana in 2011, Mr. Obeng-Boateng continued his legal studies at Law School, Makola. In 2015, he gained admission to the University of Law in London, where he obtained a postgraduate Diploma in Professional Legal Practice.
In 2017, he was appointed as the Managing Director of Bulk Oil and Transportation (BOST) by President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, a position he held until June 2018.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Obeng-Boateng is known for his philanthropic efforts. He has generously donated to various institutions, including hospitals, schools, churches, and security agencies. His commitment to education is evident through his regular contributions of teaching and learning materials to schools across the country.
Acknowledged for his contributions to the creation of the Western North Region, he received recognition from local leaders.
Currently, Mr. Obeng-Boateng is the Parliamentary Candidate for the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency under the New Patriotic Party (NPP). While actively engaged in politics, he also maintains his role as the Chief Executive Officer of Approaches Group of Companies.
