Who Is Dr Kwame Kyei? Dr. Kwame Kyei, born in Accra in 1961 and hailing from Agona Wiamoase in the Ashanti region, has left an indelible mark on Ghana’s business landscape. As the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Unity Group of Companies, his journey is nothing short of remarkable.

In 1992, Dr. Kyei embarked on his association with the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) Company, initially as a transporter. Little did he know that this would set the stage for a thriving business empire that now significantly contributes to Ghana’s economy.

His foray into the petroleum industry began with the establishment of his first retail outlet in Accra. Subsequently, he acquired an Oil Marketing License from the Energy Commission and founded Unity Oil Company Limited in 2002. Today, this company operates over thirty filling stations nationwide.

Dr. Kyei’s business prowess extends beyond petroleum. He owns various enterprises, including Nation Services Company Ltd (a Bulk Distribution Company), Sports Hotel in Kumasi, Unity Air, Light Television, Vison 1 FM, and Wisdom FM. His diversified business portfolio demonstrates his commitment to various sectors.

Recognized for his outstanding contributions, Dr. Kyei was voted the Best Petroleum and Gas Entrepreneur in 2013. He has also received an Honorary Doctorate from the International Ministerial Council of Europe, an affiliate of the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.

In addition to his business endeavors, Dr. Kyei serves as the current Chairman of Asante Kotoko Football Club, further highlighting his multifaceted impact on Ghana’s economic and sporting landscape.
