Born in 1965 in Kwahu-Tafo, Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang has emerged as a distinguished corporate figure in Ghana. He kickstarted his educational journey at St. Peters Secondary School, Nkwatia, and later secured a scholarship to Lester B. Pearson High School in Ontario, Canada. His passion for Electrical Engineering led him to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Professional Journey
Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang’s career began at MIT, pioneering research in electric motors and propulsion systems for electric vehicles. His innovative spirit shone through at Quantum Corporation and Lutron Electronics Co., earning him a U.S. patent for his groundbreaking light dimming technologies.
Seeking new horizons, he transitioned to the financial sector, joining the American International Group (AIG). His expertise was quickly recognized, leading him to pivotal roles at AIG Financial Corp. and Banque AIG, overseeing investment banking activities in Africa.
