We shall collect every pesewa owed to us from the NLC arbitrary awards — CETAG members

Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana members have reiterated the essence of the government fulfilling the agreement from the National Labour Council (NLC) arbitrary awards to them.

In a press conference held by the members of Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana on Thursday, 15 August 2024 expressed their intentions of not returning to class until the government makes payments of the arrears owed which will be settled by the National Labour Council (NLC) arbitrary awards.

“CETAG has 20 months arrears of payment to be collected from the implementation of the NLC arbitrary awards. We want to unequivocally state that, we shall collect every pesewa owed to us from the NLC arbitrary awards.”

CETAG further stated that, the inking of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the government has yield no results and therefore, they are set to proceed with the strike.

“Signing of MoA and current situation, CETAG has gone pass the signing of bogus and deceptive MoAs which the government agencies uses as caveat to deceive us to suspend and call-off our strike and go to sleep.

“On the 16 December, 2022, the government signed an MOE with CETAG that failed to implement it. Further more, on the 7th of December, 2022, the current Minister of Education put his integrity on the line and disappointed CETAG without any shame as an Honorable Minister with high status and reputation.”

The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana have been on strike for the past few weeks for government’s inability to release funds for the payments of twenty months of arrears owed to them which is to be paid by through the National Labour Council as an arbitrary awards.
