The Chief Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Mr. Kwesi Pratt has questioned the rationale behind the GES’ directive to headmasters/mistresses not to charge any extra fees from parents describing it as a directive that makes no sense.
Adding to this, Mr. Kwesi Pratt said the directive has no iota of sense in it because the senior high schools in Ghana don’t have equal advantage to adhere to such a blanket directive.
Mr. Kwesi Pratt made this bold declaration after eleven headteachers from various senior high schools across the country got suspended by the GES, for allegedly asking parents to pay extra fees to cater for some additional items that their wards would be needing.
Reacting to this recent directive issued by the GES, Mr. Kwesi Pratt said that telling senior high school heads not to charge extra fees from parents to meet certain needs of students is irrational and baseless.
Challenging the logic behind the directive issued by the GES, Mr. Kwesi Pratt argued that the directive failed to take into consideration the varying levels of endowment among different senior high schools in the country.
