The Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operation at the Ghana Revenue Authority has highlighted the change in revenue collection which is more customer friendly.
In an interview granted by the Deputy Commissioner of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Mr Daniel Edisi to TV3, a media outlet in Ghana expressed the significant change in the methods of the collection of taxes by the Ghana Revenue Authority on Friday, August 23 2024. He highlighted the positive ripple effect the authority is already yielding.
” I hope you are aware last, half of the year, let me put it that way, we made a target which is about the best for the past six years. It has not been easy to make it in an election year to be able to meet that target. And it is all because of some of these collaborations. It is not only with you that we are going to do this; we have done with other stake holders and we believe that is the way to go and not using the rambo style as you guys put it,” Mr Daniel Edisi said.
Plus, Mr Daniel Edisi further acknowledged the benefits and there asserted that, hence fourth, the Ghana Revenue Authority will utilized a much friendly means in securing tax revenues for the day-to-day governance of the state at the end of the year.
“It is now a bit of what, collaboration and education. Going forward, that is the strategy that we are using and it is gaining already some advantages for us. We are sure we will be able to meet the target come the end of the year.”
He added that, companies are developing immense interest and are set to have a conversation with regards to the new methods for revenue mobilisation.
” Now everybody or the business community is ready to engage us and I believe that taxation is a bit technical and you need to explain and explain and that is what we are trying to do.” He said
Mr Daniel Edisi then again added that, ” Now GRA is customer centric and please carry this message across and then let us together because without taxes we can not grow our country and we can not do anything.”
