Industrialization is the key to Ghana`s economic growth; Mahama`s 24hr economy fits perfectly – Jacob Menkah

By | August 27, 2024

Online journalist, Jacob Menkah expresses his opinion as he claims that Ghanaians should opt for the 24 hour-economic policy which the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress has promised to implement if he is given the mandate to form his government after he wins the 7th December, 2024 general elections.

As Ghanaians warm up for the polls on the 7th of December, 2024 in order to elect their next presidential either from a political party or as an independent candidate. The two main political parties in Ghana, That is, the National Democratic Congress Party and the New Patriotic Party have already presented their manifestoes plus, an independent candidate, Alan Kyeremanten has also shared his manifesto with the public.

To that effect, Mr Jacob Menkah as a practicing journalist asserts that, the next political party to win the elections and form the next government should endeavour to make the citizenry enjoy the benefits of all the enormous natural resources the country is endowed with by employing all the factors which can enhance industrialisation.

As the two main political parties have already presented their manifestoes, a critical look into both manifestoes indicates clearly that, one is seeking to upgrade which means that, the fundamentals have already been done. However, I can confidently state that, Ghana as a country current has it foundation deteriorated and in a reverse motion.

Meanwhile, the other main political party is of the view that, the country needs to be reset again. That is an honest posture any political party that wants to form the next government should adopt hence, follow up with realistic problem solving and life changing manifesto policy promises which will breathe in more oxygen into Ghana`s economic body.

The leading opposition political party, led by the Former President and now the Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress has raised a very laudable policy. Which is the 24-hour-economy; he deduce a 1,3,3 formula in his youth manifesto. For a current that has his unemployment rate at an alarming 14.7 percent, of course, something has to be done about it and this a policy that can turn around the country`s fortune with respect to it`s unemployment rate.

To delve deeper into the 24-hour- economic policy, it actually has many branches of uplifting many individuals from the poverty baskets in which they find themselves. In brief, the policy in the agriculture sector can push farmers engage in an all year round farming, were they make use of of modernised mechanism for farming; since industries will obviously need the raw materials [ farm produce] for production, which is another source of employment, there will be more products either from the primary, secondary or tertiary and hence, inflation in general is reduce.

More so, there will be enough to be consumed internally and hence, would be exported in order for the country`s balance of payment which is currently in deficit will be corrected and it will also reduce the pressure on the utilization of foreign currencies to trade which in the long run will improve on the value of the Ghana Cedi.

However, taking a look at the New Patriotic Party`s manifesto, it clearly displays a delusion of economic policies which in actual terms, are not realistic enough and they lack the capacity to revitalise the economic woes this country finds itself. After all the mouth watering policies they convinced the Ghanaian electorates prior to the last two general elections even if they claim they have implemented those policies; I want to state categorically that, it has yielded little or no results. The New Patriotic Party in the last eight years have ditch their integrity and therefore, I honestly think they are virtual empty in providing bold solutions to Ghana`s problems.
