Edward Sackey, an 18-year-old final-year student of O’Reilly Senior High School, was tragically stabbed to death by a classmate on Monday, September 2. Sackey, who was studying in the school’s Visual Arts Department, reportedly became involved in a heated argument with a fellow student over whose parent was wealthier.
The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation, during which Sackey was stabbed multiple times. The alleged assailant, identified only as Godwin, fled the scene following the incident.
Desperate to save him, fellow students rushed Edward Sackey to the hospital, but he was declared dead upon arrival. The tragic event has sent shockwaves through the school and surrounding community.
In the wake of the incident, a critical meeting was held on Monday. Attendees included the management of O’Reilly Senior High School, the Municipal Director of Education at the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA), and the Greater Accra Regional Director of Education, as they discussed the next steps following this devastating occurrence.
