On Friday, December 1, 2023, Mark Sheppard said he collapsed in his at home after suffering a series of heart attacks. On Saturday, December 2, the actor shared a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed.

He captioned the photo: “You’re not going to believe this! Was on my way to an appointment yesterday when I collapsed in my kitchen.”

“Six massive heart attacks later, and being brought back from dead 4 times.”

The actor said doctors found a blockage in his left anterior descending artery, or LAD for short.

The blockage is so deadly that its earned the nickname, “widowmaker.”

Sheppard went on to thank his wife, the Los Angeles Fire Department, and the doctors and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital in California.

“If not for my wife, the @losangelesfiredepartment at mullholland and the incredible staff @providencecalifornia St Joseph’s – I wouldn’t be writing this.”

He added: “My chances of survival were virtually nil.”

Thankfully, the Supernatural star is recovering quickly.

He wrote: “I feel great. Humbled once more. Home tomorrow!” along with the hashtag #spnfamily.

Sheppard’s Supernatural co-star, Misha Collins, commented on Sheppard’s post, leaving words of encouragement for the actor.

Collins wrote: “Mark! You don’t need to do the most and biggest every time! 6 heart attacks? 2 or 3 would have been impressive enough. You’ve impressed us, okay.”

He added: “Now stop with this, heal up and get back on the road with us. Love you, pal.”

Collins played the role of the angel Castiel on the CW show from 2008 to 2020.

Another Supernatural costar, Felicia Day, wrote: “Omg mark I am so glad you’re recovering this is awful! Sending all my love to you and the family” alongside a red heart emoji.

Actor Matt Bome, who appeared alongside Sheppard in the USA Network series White Collar and HBO’s Doom Patrol, commented: “Glad you’re ok Mark.” Even the Los Angeles Fire Department’s official Instagram page reached out, writing: “We’re so glad to hear of your outcome and wish you a full and speedy recovery!”
