On March 3, 1977, Ronan Keating was born in Dublin. Before joining Boyzone, the singer had a Stars In Their Eyes audition. He is the youngest of five children, with Linda as his only sibling and Ciarán, Gerard, and Gary as his other three brothers.
His mother Marie worked as a hairdresser, and his father Gary drove a lorry. Ronan was a talented track and field athlete in his youth and won the All Ireland under-13 200m championship.
In 1993, Ronan joined Boyzone after participating in an open audition. Shane Lynch, Keith Duffy, Stephen Gately, Mark Walton, and Richard Rock made up the rest of the band.
The band was initially managed by Louis Walsh, and Mark and Richard were later replaced by Mikey Graham. Words, A Different Beat, All That I Need, No Matter What, When The Going Gets Tough, and You Needed Me were among the boyband’s six number-one singles.
All four of their debut albums reached the top spot in the UK charts. They broke up in 2000 but went on tour again in 2009. In 2018–19, as part of their Thank You & Goodnight tour, they made one final stop in the UK and Ireland.
